Our Study Abroad travel insurance is a specially designed for people who take longer trips abroad of up to 15 months, for the purposes studying abroad.

- Premier Plus £45.81† (unlimited return trips – gadgets £3,000).

There Are Three Levels Of Cover To Choose From:

Provides higher limits and additional cover for:- Travel delay.

Provides the same benefits as Premier with enhanced cover limits.
Return Trips Home Are Included At No Extra Charge!
For travellers who need to break their trip up, by returning to the UK, our study abroad travel insurance policy allows you to return home, at Christmas or Easter, for instance, for: up to two trips home (maximum 21 days per trip) during the policy period if buying the ‘Standard’ or ‘Premier’ cover, or unlimited return trips home (maximum 21 days per trip), during the policy period, if buying the ‘Premier PLUS’ cover.
Cover is suspended during the period at home.
Gadget Cover
We will provide cover for theft; accidental damage; loss; breakdown and unauthorised call/data use for your gadgets including: handlheld consumer electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets, iPads, kindles, satnavs, cameras, lenses, camcorders, smartwatches, smart glasses, head-mounted displays, handheld games consoles, portable DVD players, headphones, wireless speakers, MP3 players, iPods and laptop computers.
Note: Laptops are not covered for accidental loss, cover for unauthorised call/data use is only for mobile phones and there is no cover provided under this section for drones.
A gadget must be in good working order and in your possession when you start your trip and:
- Purchased as new in the UK, or, if purchased as refurbished, was not purchased direct from the manufacturer or network provider in the UK; or
- Purchased as second hand or used, but not a refurbished device, that was sold with a minimum 12 month warranty; and
- In any event not more than 48 months old at the date you started your trip.
24 hour medical emergency assistance
A 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year helpline is provided for assistance in the event of a medical emergency abroad.

Note: This policy does not cover: Base jumping; Extreme skiing; Cruise trips or working as a Ski instructor.

Our study abroad travel insurance provides cover for single trip travel, for periods from 1 month up to a maximum trip duration of 15 months.

TRIP EXTENSIONS IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO RETURN HOME FROM YOUR TRIP AS PLANNED
If your return travel is delayed due to a covered reason, we will extend your period of cover until the earlier of when you are able to return to your primary residence, or until the day you arrive at a medical facility in your country of residence for further care if you end your trip due to a medical reason.

We would suggest that if you have not started that part of your journey you contact your airline to change your travel plans to move on to the next part of your itinerary.
If you arrive at your stop-over airport and entry is denied due to Covid-19 you should contact your airline to change your travel plans to move on to the next part of your itinerary.
If you are offered an alternative destination and or dates from your travel agent, we may be able to shift your insurance policy to fit the new trip without any administration charges, providing the new trip is for the same duration and to the same location or geographical area.

What can I do with my policy if I am no longer travelling and have received a refund for my holiday?
In the event that you are unable to move the trip to an alternative destination, and are offered a refund from your travel agent or tour operator, we are happy to refund a proportion of the premium you have paid. Refunds are provided on the understanding you have not travelled or made a claim before you asked to cancel the policy.

What is a gadget?
Gadget - means the portable electronic equipment owned by you, the replacement value of which must not exceed the maximum benefit for ‘Gadget Cover’ shown in the ‘Cover Summary’ in the policy wording, with the relevant proof of purchase, that is in good condition and in full working order at the time of your trip, including laptops, mobile phones, smart phones, iPhones, iPads, tablets, e-readers, MP3 Players, CD/DVD players, head/ear phones, satellite navigation devices, PDAs, handheld games, consoles, cameras, video cameras and wearable technology (e.g. smart watch or health and fitness tracker) but excluding drones.
All gadgets must be less than 6 years old at the start date of the insurance (18 months for laptops) and must have been manufactured to a UK Specification, with valid proof of purchase.
All gadgets must have been:
- Purchased as new and must be in full working order at the start date of this policy, or
- purchased by you as refurbished in the UK, as long as, the refurbished gadget was sold with a minimum 12-month warranty and this stated on your evidence of ownership (which you will be required to provide evidence of), or
- gifted to you, as long it meets the criteria in points a) or b) above, and you are able to provide a UK gift receipt.
In addition, all gadgets:
- Cannot have been purchased during the trip,
- cannot have been purchased outside the UK,
- must be in your possession and in good working condition (not accidentally damaged),
- must not have not previously been repaired using non-manufacturer parts.
What Is Covered?
We will pay you up to the maximum benefit for ‘Gadget Cover’ shown in the ‘Cover Summary’ in the policy wording, for nthe following:
- The cost of repairing or replacing your gadget if it is lost, stolen, damaged or suffers electrical breakdown whilst on your trip.
- The costs of any unauthorised calls/texts/data use from the time your gadget was lost or stolen on your trip, up to a maximum of 24 hours from discovery of the incident.
- The cost of replacing any accessories that were lost, stolen or damaged at the same time as your gadget. If we replace your gadget with a different make or model and this means that you can no longer use your existing accessories, we will replace them too.

Our Study Abroad Travel Insurance provides cover for single trip travel for periods up to 15 months.
ELIGIBILITY
This policy is only available to you if:
- you have your primary residence in and you are registered with a doctor in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man;
- you have not spent more than 6 months abroad during the 12 months before this policy was iss ued or your trip was booked (whichever is later) unless your policy includes the 'Optional Student Study Abroad Cover';
- you are in your country of residence at the time of purchasing this p olicy. We will only cover you for the whole trip. Any trip that has begun when you purchase this insurance will not be covered;
- you are aged between 18 and 45 years inclusive on the date your policy was issued;
- your trip starts and ends in your country of residence, within the period of c over shown on your policy schedule;
- you are not travelling with the intention of receiving medical treatment;
- you are fit to travel on your trip and are not tr avelling against the advice of a doctor or where you would have been if you had sought their advice before commencing your trip.
he ‘Optional Student Study Abroad Cover’ is only available to you if you are studying abroad as part of a College/University degree or similar qualification.
AGE ELIGIBILITY
The person buying this insurance must be 18 years of age or over at the date of purchase. You must not be older than 45 years of age on the date your policy was issued.

Provided you follow any travel advice issued by the government in your country of residence and in any country you are travelling from, to or through, you will be covered in the area or country shown on your policy schedule.
It is your responsibility to check the latest advice from the FCDO prior to commencing your trip, which you can find at www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.
You will not be covered if you travel outside the area you have selected, as shown in your policy schedule.

The EHIC allows you to access state provided healthcare in all European Economic Area (EEA) countries and Switzerland. Your EHIC will be accepted for the remainder of its validity.
From 4th January 2021, if you do not have a valid EHIC you will need to apply for a GHIC but please be aware that the GHIC does not cover Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. For more information or to apply for your GHIC: online at .dh.gov.uk/travellers or by telephoning 0845 606 2030.
Presenting your EHIC/GHIC at a public medical facility will allow you to obtain treatment at a reduced cost and in many cases free of charge, provided you are a UK or BFPO resident (please note if you reside in the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands you are not eligible for an EHIC/GHIC). You must carry it with you when travelling abroad.

Staff are on call 24 hours a day throughout the year. They will, when necessary, guarantee medical bills and arrange repatriation if required.
If you are asked to pay a small bill for medicines and/or outpatient treatment it is often easier to settle your bill direct, keep all receipts and claim for the costs incurred on your return home. It is very important to obtain an itemised receipt for any monies paid for medical treatment.
If you are admitted as an inpatient or outpatient treatment is likely to exceed £500, then you must contact the 24 hour Medical Emergency Assistance Service as soon as possible. They will then arrange for medical expenses covered by the policy to be paid direct to the hospital/clinic.

If you are not completely satisfied with the cover provided, you may return your policy to us within 14 days on receipt of your policy documents. Provided that you have not already travelled and are not making a claim, your premium will be refunded in full.
